These last few nights have been very slow. There is a weather system coming through between now and monday, with 3-5 inches of snow expected. Yup, this is the UP! The owls are certainly not traveling before the front moves in, which is what sometimes happens. We are hoping they are waiting behind all of this weather to start migrating. Today, we all went down to check out Vermilion Rd and the Rivermouth area. The rivermouth is open, and there were Canada Geese, Bald Eagles, and a Common Goldeneye. A mile down the road, we spotted a shrike and some late winter snowmobilers. Near the Paradise library, there was a male Kestrel hanging out. That was about it, but it was nice to get out a bit!
