Fall Owl Banding Begins

The Fall owl season began last night with a rainstorm. Banding is scheduled for Sep 15 - Oct 31, weather permitting. High winds and/or precipitation will keep us from opening. The radar image at right was taken around 4am last night - hopefully we won't see too many like this.

We start each year hopeful for a good owl migration
, but the truth is, it's always a surprise. You can never plan on catching 60 Barred Owls like the fall of 2007, 170 Boreal Owls like 1996, or getting skunked for nearly a week straight. Whatever the outcome, we're sure to have a unique 2010 season and we'll keep you posted.
