We are not banding tonight due to the heavy rain and strong winds. We are glad to have the night off and will be ready to go once the weather breaks. Tomorrow evening isn't looking promising for banding either. We are hoping for a big push after this storm passes on Tuesday or Wednesday night. We will see....
Last night we ended up with 11 Northern Saw-whets and one Saw-whet encounter. The encounter was a bird banded here at Whitefish Point by Chris and Nova during the Summer 2009 banding effort. This bird was a juvenile when first banded and is still in the area. Interesting stuff.
Totals: 65 NSWO, 2 NSWO encounters, 1 LEOW
