Following our last post wind and/or rain shut us down for 3 out of 4 nights, but things have picked up a bit again. Over the last 3 nights we have banded 39 Saw-whets, 1 Long-eared, and 1 Great Gray. The Great Gray was actually the 700th owl banded this season. While the folks who hung around after attending Sarah's evening owl presentation were treated to close up views of Long-eared & Saw-whet Owls, the Great Gray unfortunately showed up later in the night. We thought the Great Horned had left, but it continues to be seen perched on the lighthouse most nights.
